I’m Assana, the one-woman band behind this hub.
Cultural exploration runs deep in my veins. Born and raised in South London to Sierra Leonean parents, my upbringing was a mix of traditional West-African customs, Islamic teachings, and the rich diversity of London’s multicultural melting pot. This environment constantly fuelled, and still fuels my quest to learn about different cultures.
Growing up with a dad who’s a geography teacher and a documentary enthusiast—preferring Geography Now over games, and watching films from everywhere from Bollywood to Nollywood, US movies to K-Drama — I’ve developed a deep fascination with understanding various peoples and their cultures. I also travel quite often which allows me to see these cultures with my own eyes!

So in a nutshell, “The Culture Mapper” is a fusion of all my passions viewed through the lens of my earliest love—exploring cultures! It’s a platform where I take you on my discovery journey, sharing insights into the diverse world of cultural traditions and how they shape our lives.
The goal here is to celebrate both the diversity and similarities among people, enhancing our understanding and appreciation of those different from us.
